Meet the Maker
Hi I'm Johanna
I'm the founder, proud owner & cake designer of Caketastic Creations. My love of baking start when I was young, helping my mum in the kitchen making bread and fairy buns and everything from the Bero book, which I still use today. I loved to try new recipes and share them with family, friends and later work colleagues. After being made redundant from a long career as a Manufacturing Chemist, I established my business in 2011 working from home. The business went from strength to strength and in 2015 I decided to convert an old caravan into a traveling tearoom, selling traditional cake & bakes on local artisan markets in Knutsford, Didsbury and Manchester. Then in 2019 I took the plunge and moved into my beautiful little shop in Middleton. (7 months before the pandemic came!) But I'm happy to say we survived and are still creating amazing cakes. Ive trained with some amazing cake designers including Suzanne Thorpe of The Frostery and Mollie Robbins of Molly Makes Cakes. In 2020 I entered my first cake competition, the prestigious Baking Industry Awards, and was delighted to reach the semi finals with my Secret Garden Themed Cake. The following year I reached the finals with my Magicians Magic themed cake where I got to attend the lavish awards ceremony in London. So in 2022 I was determined to pull out all the stops and it worked! In 2022 I am proud to say I won the Baking Industry Awards ''Celebration Cake Business of the year" and finally got to take the trophy home. The theme was 'Queens Jubilee' and for me this was perfect and a dream to make this cake. It took me 75 hours to complete and is the best cake Ive ever made and also my favourite! Thank you for visiting my website and I hope you've enjoyed viewing my work. Johanna |
